How do I prepare data for importing customers into ENVISION?

We typically get a lot of questions about importing customer files into ENVISION.  This topic will give you a little bit of insight into what you will need to do to import a customer file.

Typically, our clients will have a customer list in Excel format.  We suggest that you convert it to CSV.

You will also need to remove any unusual characters from the heading row.  "Unusual characters" can include things like these: !@#$%^&*()+?.  Watch out for quotes, slashes, and colons too.  Generally, the dash - and underscore _ are OK.  You may also want to make sure that there are none of these in your file name as well.

One last thing to check is to make sure that there is some data in the first row immediately after the heading row.  We have found that when this file is blank, it can cause some issues as well.

Good luck!
