Creating a Percent or Penetration Variable

The Select Percent Base dialog is displayed when the Percent operator (%) is selected in the Edit Formula dialog.

This dialog assists you in creating a formula where one variable is expressed as a percentage of another.

For example, the percentage of people in managerial occupations could be calculated by dividing total managers by total work force and multiplying the result by 100.

When building a formula, you might:

1. Select the Variable "Total Managers".

2. Then select the % operator; this selection causes the Select Percent Base dialog to be displayed.

3. Select the variable "Total Work Force".

The result of this operation is to create the formula (Total Managers/Total Work Force)*100, which calculates the percentage of people in managerial occupations.
