In this article, you'll find information to help interpret your WorkplaceNow Occupancy Trend reports in ENVISION, as well as definitions for report headers and examples of what these mean.
This report provides estimates of the number of workers and days worked at employment locations for different periods. This report compares workplace populations from one period to another to provide insights and inform COVID-19 recovery plans.
ENVISION users can find this information without leaving the platform by clicking the "How to Read" button located in the top-right corner of your reports.
Count (Household Population 15+ at workplace): Number of workers who worked at their employment locations during the time period.
Count (Days spent at workplace): Combined number of days that all workers spent at their employment locations during the time period.
% (Household Population 15+ at workplace): (Household Population 15+ at workplace / Total Household Population 15+ in trade area x 100) The proportion of total household population 15+ who worked at their employment locations during the time period. Note: The count of total household population 15+ is not contained in this report but can be run from other tools such as the Ranking Variables - Trade Area report.
In the screenshot below, for example, in January 2023, 56,055 workers worked at their employment locations, which equates to 67.42% of the trade area (Victoria, BC) household population 15+.
% (Days spent at workplace): (Days spent at workplace / Household Population 15+ at workplace) The average number of days spent at their employment location per worker.
For example, 685,021 days spent at workplace divided between 56,055 workers yields an average of 12.22 days spent at their workplace per worker in January 2023.
Absolute Change: The numerical change between counts for the time period for analysis and the comparison time period.
For example, 56,055 workers from Victoria, BC at their workplace in January 2023 minus 47,737 workers from Victoria, BC at their workplace in January 2022 yields an absolute change of 8,318.
% Change: (Absolute Change / Count for comparison time period x 100) The proportion of the count of workers or days for the comparison time period that increased or decreased relative to the count for the time period for analysis.
For example, 48,680 days (Absolute Change) out of 636,341 days (number of days that workers spent at the workplace in January 2022) yields a percent change of 7.65%.
