A one-page summary of key demographic variables in a trade area or customer file and a map. It helps answer the following questions: What are the demographics of the trade areas around my store locations? How do the demographics in my trade area compare with the general US population? What is the homeowner vs. renter breakdown in my trade area or customer file? What are the demographics of my current customers?
Note: Depending on the type of Highlights - Pop-Facts report you run, you may not see all of the field headers below.
Count: The number of people or households in the selected input who exhibit that behavior.
%: (Count/Total Count * 100) The percentage of the population or households in the selected input that exhibit that behavior.
Base Count: The number of people or households in the benchmark who exhibit that behavior.
Base %: (Base Count/Base Total Count * 100 ) The percentage of the population or households in the benchmark that exhibit that behavior.
% Pen: (Count/Base Count * 100) Of all people or households who exhibit that behavior in the base area, % Pen is the proportion found in the selected input.
Index: (% /Base % *100) Measures if the population or households in the selected input are more or less likely to exhibit that behavior compared to the benchmark (average = 100).
For example, 15.29% of the households in the California Trade Area are 4-person households. Comparatively, 13.05% of households in the benchmark (United States) are 4-person households. With an Index value of 117, California is 17% more likely to contain 4-person households compared to the United States in general.
This report provides estimated and projected data for select demographic variables. The Pop-Facts Trends report includes census counts and percent change calculations. It helps answer the following question: What are the key demographic trends within my trade area?
Census: Previous census data on the number of people or households in the trade area who exhibit that demographic characteristic.
Estimate: The current year estimate of people or households in the trade area who exhibit that demographic characteristic.
Projection: The forecasted number of people or households in the trade area who exhibit that demographic characteristic.
Population Count Change (%): The percentage change in population.
Household Count Change (%): The percentage change in the number of households.
Family Count Change (%): The percentage change in the count of families.
Housing Unit Count Change (%): The percentage change in the count of housing units.
Group Quarters Population Change (%): The percentage of change in population for group quarters.
For example, 1.08% represents the estimated rate of population count change within the Trade Area of California between the years 2023 and 2028.
