When using the Unique or Rural Enhanced License files you will notice that more than one FSALDU/Postal Code can be linked to one latitude and longitude coordinate. In most of these cases, the FSALDUs/Postal Codes are classified as a Post Office Box or where the 'POBOX’ field is ‘1' in the License files. The License files contain over 2,200 Post Office Boxes that capture close to 15,000 FSALDUs/Postal Codes.
Other non-Post Office Box FSALDU/Postal Code multiples are a result of the geocoding process. When address information is not provided for FSALDUs/Postal Codes, the geocoding process will resort to using the coordinates of the community/town as the most representative point. This is particularly true for rural or more remote FSALDUs/Postal Codes.
